KANNEZHUTHI POTTUM THOTTU:-  In all probability this is Manju Warrier's last movie and unlike Bradman who scored a duck in his last test innings Manju has scored a double-century or so it would seem if one were to make an analogy. The entire movie is shot in beautiful Kuttanad. There is a lot of footage featuring the green back-waters with the coconut trees swaying to the wind in the background and long country boats in addition to the green lush paddy fields. The movie is directed by T.K. Rajeev Kumar who made his directorial debut in Kamal Hassan's "Chanakyan".

The cast features Thilakan as the wealthy land owner Natesan Mothalali, his son Uttaman (Biju menon), Bhadra (Manju), bangle seller Moosakutty (Abbas) and Kalabhavan Mani who plays an imbecile's role. Its a Sidney Sheldon type revenge story. Manju is seeking to avenge her parent's death for which Thilakan was responsible. Manju's motives are known from the first scene and hence there is no suspense but her electric presence ensures that you are never once bored during the entire movie. She woos both father and son and finally get them to kill each other in a rather grossly shot scene amidst heavy rain. If you are a Manju Warrier fan you wouldn't want to miss this one.

The songs are typical Kuttanadan-country type music. One of the songs is sung by Mohanlal and Manju Warrier. In another song Kalabhavan Mani has sung a few verses too. The sore point about the movie is Manju Warrier wears little or no make-up and her lack of natural good looks stand out in the movie. A first timer might be forgiven for asking who this ugly girl was. Her plain looks were made all the more explicit due to  the presence of baby-faced Abbas.
